Chamber of Commerce takes lead in
Annual Oregon’s Run for the Roses.
After 6 years of growing Oregon's Run for the
Roses as a major fund raiser for Faith in Action and Sherwood Senior
Center, Sherwood Chamber of Commerce has agreed to keep the tradition
alive by taking over organizing the run. Oregon’s Run for the Roses, an officially sanctioned Portland Rose Festival event, is a fundraiser for Sherwood
Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund, Faith in Action and the Sherwood Senior Center.
Sherwood Faith in Action is a non-profit organization that assists senior citizens in the Sherwood, King City and Tualatin area. Volunteers assist seniors with a variety of services, helping them continue an independent lifestyle. Part of a national program, Sherwood Faith in Action alone helps more than 100 people annually.
The Oregon Run for the Roses this year was held beginning at Sherwood High School. The route takes participants along the Cedar Creek Trail, followed with festivities and entertainment at the end. Runners are professionally timed and results
are posted on the internet along with photos of winners.
